INSHORE
There are still a handful of good sized striped bass hanging around the Point and the tidal rips that make the point a prime nearshore fishing spot. A good amount of the striped bass population has started their journey east towards the southwest ledge and Block Island. Great eastern has seen some smaller fluke and black seabass come up; two fish that make great tablefair! The pocketbook and frisbees have been the two most successful spots for keeper fluke.
OFFSHORE
The bluefin tuna bite is finally here! Midshore has seen some very hot action trolling spreader bars and sidetrackers, even rigged ballyhoo is getting the job done. Look for the temperature breaks and any signs of life while running out to the ledges/tuna grounds. Many humpback whales, porpoise, and birds have been seen with the schools of tuna. The 30 fathom curve has been a hot spot! The canyon bite has been fairly successful with Bigeye tuna, good sized yellowfin, and even a hot tilefish bite. As the water gets warmer, more and more pelagics will be coming in to hunt for bait.
Fair winds and following seas!
